Coffee Roast Types
Typical Roast Flavor Characteristics are as follow :
4 A - Light Roast
Light roasts are light brown with a dry surface, with a light body and no oil on the surface of the beans. Light roasts have a toasted grain taste and pronounced acidity.
4 B - Medium Roast
Medium roast, the bean’s surface is dry and it is sweeter than light roasts, it has more body and a more balanced acidity and aroma. The color is medium brown, and is balanced with acidity, fuller body, and the green coffee distinctions are lacking.
4 C - Dark Roast
The beans are roasted to a dark brownish/black color with spots of oil with a shiny surface. It is bitter, little sweet, much less acidity and the flavors have been overshadowed by the flavor of full caramelization.
